19th Century Mahogany Kidney-Shaped Butler’s Tray
A beautiful late 18th/19th-century mahogany kidney-shaped butler’s tray, with elegant George III inlay and wonderfully decorative flourishes. The shaped form is particularly appealing, while the brass carrying handles are cleverly positioned along the curve, making the tray surprisingly comfortable and well balanced to carry.
The brass has developed a lovely aged patina, complementing the warm tones of the mahogany and intricate inlaid decoration. In fabulous overall condition, with a small area of damage to one edge, consistent with its age.
A handsome and practical piece with plenty of country-house charm, equally lovely used for serving or simply displayed on a sideboard or ottoman.
