Victorian jelly mould
A charming Victorian ceramic jelly mould with beautifully defined fluted sides and an attractive petal-shaped star design to the base. Originally used to create decorative jellies and desserts, pieces such as this are now highly sought after for their sculptural quality and decorative appeal.
The glaze has developed an all-over crazing, with warm brown discolouration within the crazing that has built up over many years, giving the mould a wonderful aged patina and highlighting its Victorian origins. There are also a couple of hairline cracks, consistent with its age and use.
Whether displayed on a kitchen shelf, hung as part of a collection, or repurposed as a decorative piece, this mould brings instant character and a touch of country-house charm to any interior.
