French mahogany shelf

£36.00Price

French Mahogany Shelf – Late 19th Century
A charming late 19th-century French mahogany shelf with pretty scalloped side panels. We believe its original purpose was to hold a candle box at the bottom, with a chamberstick or candlestick on the top shelf — though it’s just as lovely for whatever takes your fancy today.

There’s a fine split in the wood on the top shelf, a water mark, and a few other minor signs of age (all shown in the photos), but nothing that takes away from its character.

It can be wall-hung or simply placed on a shelf, making it both decorative and versatile.
