French wire basket

A wonderful vintage French galvanised wire basket sourced in Brittany, where baskets such as this were traditionally used for gathering shellfish along the coastline, including mussels and cockles.
Today, it makes a practical and attractive addition to the garden. Perfect for harvesting home-grown vegetables, imagine lifting freshly dug potatoes from the soil and tumbling them straight into the basket, allowing loose earth to fall back through the wire mesh. The open design also makes it easy to rinse vegetables clean with a garden hose.
Beautifully weathered with authentic rustic charm, the basket retains its sturdy original handle and remains in good usable condition. There are a few small spots of surface rust to the wire mesh, entirely consistent with age and use, but these do not affect its strength or integrity. The handle is undamaged and secure.
